5 Types of Shorts You Need To Have In Your Closet This Summer

Summer is here, so you know what that means: bring out the shorts!

Shorts will forever be a summer staple and on this post, I’m sharing a round-up of some of my favorite shorts, plus tips on how to style them.

Leather Shorts

Leather shorts are timeless. Whether you’re rocking faux leather or real leather, these shorts are sure to make a statement.

Style Tip: You can dress down these shorts, like I did here, by pairing it with a simple top. In this picture, I’m serving a monochromatic lewk. To dress it up a bit more, add a blazer and some strappy heels.

Paperbag Shorts

This style of shorts are called “paperbag” because of the pleated scrunched up look at the waist. This is one of my favorite trend this season.

Style tip: You’ll find that most of these shorts come with a fabric belt. I recommend ditching it and adding a belt of your choice.

Classic Jeans Shorts

Now, these are the shorts we mostly associate with summer, the classic high-waisted frayed jean shorts.

Style Tip: These shorts are very casual. If you want to maintain that look, pair them with a graphic tee or this trendy padded shoulder top. If you want to wear this style of shorts to an event, brunch or just want to spice it up a bit, add an oversize blazer.

Suit Shorts

These shorts are often advertised as a co-ord set, either with a regular top or a blazer. Whether you choose to wear them as a set or on their own, these shorts are perfect for daytime events or brunch (I love brunch y’all, can you tell?).

Style Tip: Buy this style of shorts a size bigger or half a size bigger, if possible. Having them a bit looser makes them more versatile and you can wear them with a crop top like I did in the photo above.

Lounging/Biker Shorts

If you don’t own a pair of biker shorts, stop what you’re doing and go get some. These shorts have been my go-to during this quarantine season. They are comfortable and allow me to eat all the snacks.

Style Tip: Despite the super casual look of biker shorts, you can dress them up for an athleisure look. My favorite style trend is biker shorts paired with a crop top and a super oversize blazer. Add simple low heel sandals and it’s a guaranteed LEWK.
