My 2020 Reading List

Today, I’m sharing my 2020 reading list!

Ever since high school, I’ve made it a goal of mine to read 12 books a year; one book for each month. In 2019, I only read four books but this year, I’ve been intentional about accomplishing this goal. I’m happy to say I’ve read 7 books from my list this year.

I decided to shift my focus away from self-help books. I love a good self-help book and I have read so many that have changed my life, but I began to feel like I wasn’t giving myself the time to implement the knowledge into my everyday life. So instead of reading 12 self-help books this year, I chose to mix up my reading list. Other than self-help books, I love romance, drama, and true crime novels. I love getting lost in a good book and wake up not realizing hours have passed.

I’ve also incorporated audiobooks into my reading. I used to think listening to audiobooks didn’t really count as “reading”, but I was wrong. Since I commute two hours a day to work, listening to audiobooks on Audible has become a part of my commute routine. I typically read two books at a time, one on Audible and one physical copy.

Here’s my 2020 reading list:

Books I’ve Read

  • 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
  • Three Women by Lisa Taddeo
  • The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson
  • Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
  • Superfans by Pat Flynn
  • Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
  • This Side of Home by Renee Watson

Books I Plan to Read

  • The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
  • Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams
  • Relationship Goals by Mike Todd
  • More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth
  • I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness Austin Channing Brown
  • I’m Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi
  • Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid
  • The Gift of Imperfection (Re-reading) by Rene Brown
  • Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria by Beverly Daniel Tatum

I will keep this list updated as I discover new books, but I want to know what books are you guys reading? Let me know in the comments or drop it in my DMs.

Thanks for reading!
