Graduation Happened!
Anyone who follows me on any social media platform knows that I recently graduated. I graduated from Florida International University with my Bachelors in Business Administration majoring in Human Resources and a double major in management. It feels so good to type these words because up until the day before graduation, I didn’t know whether this was possible. That’s a story for another day. My undergrad journey started in 2014 straight out of high school. I attended a community college for two and a half years and transferred to a University for the remaining time. You can read all about the lessons I learned from attending a community college here. I plan on sharing more about my overall undergrad experience as I transition into “adulthood”.
So, What now? Grad school?
No, I will not be attending grad school. Although, it’s my goal to obtain my MBA in the future, it’s not something I want to pursue at this current stage. There are many reasons why I’m not rushing to go to grad school. One, my field is highly based on experience. A masters degree with zero experience means nothing. Honestly, so is having a bachelor’s with no experience in my field. Second, I’m not paying for it. I had to take out loans during undergrad, I’m grateful that I only graduated with roughly 20k loan debt. Keep in mind, I don’t qualify for pell grants, had no scholarships…etc. Back to me not paying for grad school. The only way I’m willing to achieve this goal of getting my MBA, is if I get scholarships that will pay for it or I find an employer that’s willing to pay for it.
If not grad school, then what?
Again if you keep up with me on the “gram”, you’ll know I accepted a full-time entry-level position. I now work as an HR assistant for a law firm and have been gaining a lot of experience in my career. But, it doesn’t stop there. I love HR, I’m excited about my future in the field, but I have other passions as well. Next month, I’ll be enrolling into a real estate course to become a Real Estate Agent. I don’t like sharing things prematurely, but I feel like sharing somethings will help me hold myself accountable. One of the reasons I want to go into real estate is because I want to teach and educate young people how to invest and own property and I will be my first client. That’s a career path I’m looking to pursue part-time aside from my full-time job.
Lastly, I want to pour myself into blogging again. Writing and posting on this blog helped me mentally and allowed me to be vulnerable to strangers on the internet and I’m looking forward to bringing you guys more content and share how much I’ve grown creatively and as a person.
As always, thanks for reading
Congrats on graduating love!! And I’m sure whatever you decide to do will go well for you! And I agree with you, and there are many jobs in our fields if you don’t have the experience even with a degree, you’re considered inexperience in their eyes.
Do what you have to do to build up your resume and the experience needed. ❤️
