Full Paris Recap + Tips

If you have been keeping up with my recent activities, you would know I’ve been exploring the streets of PAHHREEEE lol.

I spent a total of 5 days in Paris and I did a LOT. I shared a lot of my trip through my IG story, which you can still find on my Paris highlight.

On this post, I’m sharing everything I did, from where I ate, where I shopped and some tips and tricks.

Where to Eat

Can I be honest? The food in Paris didn’t do much for me. Maybe it’s the Caribbean in me that enjoys a little spice and a little extra seasoning. So, I’ll only mention the restaurants that I enjoyed.

  • Marcella Caffe: this was one of the first restaurants we visited, I had a pasta dish and it was delicious.
  • Angelina Paris at the Gallery Lafayette; Stop here for a boogie brunch and try their hot chocolate and spend the day shopping at the Galerie de Lafayette. Also within the same building, there’s a rooftop restaurant with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately, it rained the day we went.
  • Le Castiglione : If you looking for a fancy evening dinner
  • Chez Prune: This restaurant served the best food out of all the places we ate at in Paris. They are a farm-to-table type of restaurant, meaning their menu changes everyday based off market finds. Definitely recommend this place.
  • Cafe Le Capitole: we found this cafe around the corner from our Airbnb while scouting places to shoot. This is a cute cafe to take pictures, have a coffee or a cocktail in the evening. However, avoid their food at all cost.

Where to Shop

  • Rue Cambon is a must for high end luxury shopping. The original Chanel store is located within the same street. If you want to feel like royalty, stop by, enjoy a nice glass of wine. Be sure to get a quick tour of the staircase that leads to Madame Coco chanel’s apartment.
  • Avenue des Champs-Élysées: This street is located near the Arc De Triomphe. There’s a ton of stores like H&M, ZARA, Louis Vuitton…etc.
  • Reciproque is a high end vintage shoppe stocked with a variety of luxury brands. I purchased a gorgeous pair of Chanel booties for just 220 Euros.
  • I also shopped at various Zara stores as well as Mango. I did find their prices to be a lot cheaper than here in the states, even with the exchange rate. I recommend checking items on the US sites and comparing the prices.

Places to Visit

Honestly, we didn’t participate in most of the typical tourist activities. However, we did visit all the INSTAGRAMY ( totally made that word up ) places.

  • The Eiffel Tower: did you really visit Paris if you don’t have an Eiffel Tower picture? There are various areas around Paris that provides great views of the Eiffel Tower. However, next time I would love to actually go inside of the tower.
  • Palais Garnier: which is a historical Opera house in Paris. It cost about 8 euros ( 25 and under ) and 12 euros ( 25 and older ) to visit. The arts, sculptures and architectures are worth every penny.
  • Jadin du Palais Royal: is a beautiful landscape with tree lined walkways and a perfect place for pictures. Although, we had a horrible experience within this park and was told we had to leave, but that’s a story for another day.
  • Pont Alexandre: a beautiful gold lining bridge, another spot perfect for pictures. Also, you can get a pretty nice view of the Eiffel Tower from the bridge.

Tips & Tricks

  • Visit during low seasons: September through November is considered low seasons because kids are going back to school and there are less and less tourist. Which is great if you’re like me and don’t like crowds. The weather is also perfect around this time.
  • Bring a European converter plug: this is something I was aware of but failed to do. If you didn’t know, most European countries, if not all, have a completely different outlet than we have here in the states. In order to charge your electronics, you must have a converter.
  • As a non-France resident, you don’t have to pay tax on anything above a certain amount. For example, all my luxury purchases were tax-free. The way it works is, at the time of purchase, you must have your passport with you. The store will complete some paperwork and ask you whether you would like to have the tax refunded in cash or back on the card. If you choose cash you only receive 11% and if you choose a card it’s 13%. With that paperwork, you’ll need to go to the tax refund office located at the airport ( CDG ) to complete the tax refund process.
