If there’s one lesson I’ve learned from blogging, is to start where you are. If all you have is an iPhone and an Instagram account, start there. Unfortunately, I learned this lesson the hard way.
When I first started blogging, I felt like I needed a DSLR to provide great quality images. So, I went out and purchase a $500 DSLR ( Canon Rebel t3i ). Keep in mind, I was fresh out of high school. A few months later, I started making youtube videos and said for me to film quality content, I needed a ring light, so I purchased a ring light ( Neewer Ring Light ). I had a MacBook to edit, the perfect camera and studio light.

Here is the issue. Although I had every tool & resources to be successful, I didn’t have the right mindset and I lacked discipline. I had everything I needed, but I went months without creating any content. I was chasing perfection and sometimes when we are so focused on everything being perfect, we end up with nothing.

I say all this to say– stop waiting on the perfect opportunity, the perfect equipment, the perfect timing…START NOW.
We see a lot of subway entertainers playing music with nothing but some buckets and a stick. Imagine if they waited until they could buy a set of drums before putting themselves out there.
