You have probably seen this cabin on Instagram and Pinterest. I discovered Getaway House about two years ago when every influencer I knew was escaping to one of the many outposts around the country.
The closest outpost to me was in Georgia, which still required me to take a flight and rent a car.
Imagine my excitement when I checked the website a few months ago and saw an Orlando outpost coming soon.
This past weekend, I packed a rental car and drove over 4 hours from West Palm Beach to High Springs for two nights and three days.
The tiny cabin is in a secluded location, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Getaway House is a travel company founded in 2015 by two Harvard graduates, Jon Staff, and Pete Davis. The idea behind the company was to allow people to disconnect from the stress of daily life and reconnect with nature. The company offers tiny cabins in secluded locations, allowing guests to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing getaway experience.
The cabins are designed to offer guests a unique experience, with all the necessary amenities to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable.

What’s included in the cabin
The Getaway House cabins are designed to offer guests a unique and comfortable experience. Each cabin comes equipped with the following:
- A comfortable queen-sized bed with fresh linens and pillows. There are cabins created to fit 4 guests with a bunk bed.
- Heat and air conditioning to ensure a comfortable stay no matter the weather
- A hot shower and clean towels
- A private bathroom with eco-friendly toiletries
- A kitchenette with a mini-fridge, sink, two-burner stove, and essential cookware and utensils
- A dining area with seating for two
- Large windows to take in the surrounding nature
Cost
The cost of a Getaway House cabin stay varies depending on the location and time of year. Prices typically range from $99 to $399 per night. It’s best to check the website for specific pricing information for the location and dates you’re interested in.

What to bring
When packing for your Getaway House stay, remember that the cabins are in secluded areas without nearby restaurants or grocery stores. It’s recommended to bring your own food and drinks. Additionally, you may want to bring the following:
- Comfortable clothes and shoes for outdoor activities
- Toiletries, including sunscreen and insect repellent
- Entertainment such as books, board games, or a journal
- A cooler with ice to keep perishable food and drinks cold
- Any necessary medication or first aid supplies
We stopped by a Publix 20-25 minutes from the cabin to get enough food for the weekend. Please note that there is a mini fridge but no freezer, so avoid bringing anything that must be frozen.
The cabin is stocked with firewood and firestarter for an additional cost. I suggest bringing some extra graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate, as the amount provided is only enough for two servings.
Activities during your stay
Keep in mind that cell service is limited. While I sometimes got 5G service, most of the time, my phone only displayed an SOS signal. This is a perfect opportunity to disconnect and enjoy a technology-free getaway!
The cabin came with a few books to choose from and a box of playing cards. I brought my books and journal and spent my mornings reflecting and journaling. During our meals, we played cards and took advantage of this uninterrupted getaway to connect.
Activities Nearby
One of the best things about this location is the abundance of nearby parks. We explored the River Sink Trail at O’leno State Park during our visit.
Ginnie Springs, a popular spot for outdoor activities like swimming, snorkeling, and diving, is also nearby, just a 20-minute drive away. The crystal-clear water of the springs is surrounded by lush vegetation, making it a beautiful and peaceful destination. The park also provides picnic areas, campsites, and equipment rentals for water activities.
Overall, this experience was a bucket list item for me. Despite being an inexperienced camper, I appreciated the cabins’ simplicity.
