Happy Monday! Mondays get me excited; I see them as my weekly opportunity to start over and to start fresh. I woke up at 4 am today feeling pumped and ready to take on this week. So, since I am a woman of “themes”, I’ve decided Mondays will be our “Motivation Mondays” here on the blog. Every Monday, you can expect a post that will motivate you and me to keep pushing. This blog highly focuses on fashion and looking our best. I truly believe that in order to look good on the outside, you have to feel good on the inside. The purpose of Motivation Monday is for us to grow together and love ourselves unconditionally from the inside out.
Today’s motivation is: All it takes is for you to believe in yourself without validations.
I started blogging six years ago because I loved fashion and style and believed I had a story to tell. Read more on why I started here. I wanted to tell that story through style. Over the years, I lost sight of my ‘why’ and began comparing myself to other creators. I went months and years being inactive on my blog. During those times, people reached out to me, messaged me and told me how much I’ve inspired them and what a great job I was doing. You would think those affirming words would’ve motivated me to get back to blogging and push through. No, it didn’t. Soon, I realized that you can have an entire stadium of people cheering you on and voicing how great you are, but it means nothing if you don’t believe in yourself.
I had to start believing in myself, my voice, and my influence to get back to writing and creating. I had to shatter all the fears/voices that told me my writing and my story wasn’t good enough. Not only did I have to have radical faith and believe in my voice, but I also had to learn HOW to believe in myself and practice doing so daily.
How to Believe in Yourself
- Know that it’s possible – Whatever it is you’re trying to do, you have to know that it’s possible and you are worthy of it. I think what kills our dreams sometimes is the question “Is this really possible?” We start to doubt ourselves because we either don’t see anyone else doing it or we never saw anyone who looks like us do it. I’m here to tell you, whatever it is you want to do, it’s possible.
- Visualize the outcome – This is what keeps me going. On days when I feel like giving up, I start to visualize what can happen if I don’t give up. That image itself is enough to get me pumped.
- Practice how you play – this is a quote I took from Mattie James’s IG live last week and it’s a game-changer. It’s a sports analogy that basically means play in practice as if it’s the championship finals. I’m choosing to write every day, create content every day and wake up early to make time for my brand as if this is my full-time job. The goal is to make this brand my full-time passion.
Thank you!
I hope you leave this post with a boost of motivation and inspiration.
As always, thank you for reading.
Girl yes! OMG, Your story is identical to mine… I was on a roll with blogging and then started seeing how everyone was monetizing their platforms while I wasn’t and that made me take my eyes of off my primary purpose and I lost sight of my passion. Comparison really is the thief of joy. Smh
Glad we snapped out of it and are now doing the work again and loving it! You truly inspire me with your 4am wake up calls. Keep up the good work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
