Gossip Girl 2.0: The Fashion Looks Worth Discussing

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links.

Hey there, Upper East Siders. Were you as excited as I was about the hit TV show Gossip Girl taking a run at making the new generation obsessed with the scandalous lives of New York’s most elite high schoolers? Eight years after Gossip Girl’s final episode aired, Gossip Girl 2.0 is here, and I just have to touch on Manhattan’s most affluent Gen Zers’ new style and fashion must-haves!

The looks gifted to us from the OG series are undeniably a cultural milestone. Gossip Girl 2.0 wisely continues this legacy by keeping Eric Daman on as the show’s costume designer. He serves us looks ridden with nostalgia, from glammed-out school uniforms to couture evening wear.

Here are the fashion looks I believe are worth discussing from Gossip Girl 2.0:

Personalized School Uniforms

Right out the gate, Gossip Girl 2.0 lets its viewers know that the “classic school uniform with a twist” is here to stay! The show’s opening scene serves us runway-ready academic looks.

Zoya Lott (Whitney Peak) wore a plaid jumper paired with a matching tie and Adidas Superstar platform sneakers. Julien Calloway (Jordan Alexander) wore an oversized pinstripe button-down with black shorts and a tie. She finished the look with almond-colored boots that I am scouring on the internet to find a knock-off pair. And Luna La (Zión Moreno) is dressed in a white embroidered blouse, a black skirt, and heeled sandals.

I am obsessed with the ‘prep meets glam’ of personalized uniforms. They perfectly show both unity and individual preference and style simultaneously!

After-hours fashion moments

It’s not Gossip Girl if the drama does not take place when the sun goes down. Whether it’s at neon-lit clubs or swanky galas, these teens had the best after-hours look!

Just in the first episode itself, Zoya wore a metallic form-fitting dress that she paired with black T-Strap heels and a black crossbody bag ―the perfect nightlife outfit.

If ballgowns are more of your thing, then who can forget Julien’s iconic black corseted ballgown or Audrey’s voluminous gown paired with chunky platform heels inspired by Greta Gerwig’s 2018 Met Gala look?

The Men

Let’s not make the tragic mistake of not touching on the fashion the series’ leading men bestowed on us!

They did not come to play. We got perfectly tailored dusky warm-toned suits, preppy takes on the classic skater boy aesthetic, and even a runway version of what the stereotypical varsity jock would wear. The men of Gossip Girl 2.0 showed their versatility and impeccable taste in the latest fashion trends, and we’re only on season 1. I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
