We all know that hair extension cost a pretty penny and that you have to treat your extensions with some major TLC. I treat my extensions like I treat my own hair, the methods may differ, but the basic principle is pretty much always the same.

In this blog post, I’d like to share some of my top tips and products that I use to maintain my extensions in between salon visits.

My Go-to Hair Products for Extensions

To start the wash process, I use the Total Results Length Goals Sulfate-Free Shampoo for Extensions. This shampoo is a gentle cleanser that also increases the longevity of your hair extensions. Sulfate-free shampoo is exactly the type of product to use when you want to keep your locks beautiful and shining. One of the main benefits of a sulfate-free shampoo is that it helps hair strands to keep their natural shine. It also helps to keep the color of your hair.

Secondly, I use the Total Results Length Goals Conditioner for Extensions. This conditioner really helps with the detangling of hair, offers nourishment and most importantly, it helps to keep the hair soft. So you won’t need to worry about ruining the condition of the extensions when you have to detangle them. This product is great to use as a follow-up to the sulfate-free shampoo.

No hair wash day is complete without a leave-in treatment. I swear by the CHI Silk Infusion Silk Reconstructing Complex leave-in treatment. All I do is add a decent amount of product to the palm of my hand and work the product evenly through my extensions. This product does not need any rinsing, so I leave it in and then proceed to styling my hair. I use this before applying any type of heat to my hair.

My styling tool of choice is the CHI Digital Flat Iron – 1.25”. This flat iron leaves my extensions feeling silky soft, frizz-free and so shiny. You can even customize your styling by setting the flat iron on any of the preset temperatures. These temperature settings are suitable for any hair texture, and will still protect the texture of the hair while styling it. So there is no need to use very high temperatures on your hair just to style it.

If I’m going for some curls, I love my Babyliss Curling Iron. It goes up to 430 degrees and creates beautiful curls.

Once that’s all done you’re good to go. It might sound like a lot of work, but it sure is better than spending a ton of money on new extensions. And of course, the salon will always be there when you really need a professional touch-up.
