Well look at that, we made it to see another week! Turn up lol.
Is it me or is the month of July just attacking everyone left and right? I’ve been busy and on the go since the first day of July with no breaks since. This week has been one of the craziest weeks but, compared to last week, this week went really well. Here are three things that brought me joy this week.
3 Things That Brought Me Joy
- Getting 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night this week: If you read my morning routine post, I mentioned that I wake up around 4 or 5 am every day. One thing I’ve struggled with is getting adequate rest. I never went to bed early enough to get a full night’s sleep. This week I decided to train my body to fall asleep earlier. It’s not easy, but I found that reading before bed helps me fall asleep quicker.
- Lianne La Havas’ music: I recently discovered Lianne La Havas on Twitter when someone mentioned her new album. I decided to give it a listen and fell into the rabbit hole of her entire discography. I’ve been an emotional mess ever since. To make it worse, the first time I listened to her I was on my way home from work… during a thunderstorm. Her voice mixed with the sound of the rain had me crying tears I couldn’t comprehend. At one point, I had to ask myself “Bitch, who hurt you?!” Ahh! Sweet joys.
- A call that made me cry tears of joy and sadness: I received a call from one of my little cousins who wanted to vent about something that triggered her and needed my support. The call left me very upset and sad, but I felt a sense of joy as well. I am the oldest in my family. I basically grew up an only child because I was at least 7-10 years older than my little cousins. I’ve battled with depression myself and having Haitian parents who didn’t understand mental health back then, I had to deal with it on my own. It’s very important to me that my little cousins and siblings never feel like they don’t have an outlet or someone to go to. So when she chose to call me for the support she needed at that moment, it brought me a lot of joy.
I hope you guys find little moments of joy in your days whether you decide to share or not.
As always thank you for reading
