HAPPY MONDAY! Yess, I know I missed last week’s Motivation Monday post, but that’s alright. I’m back with the gems.
Every motivation post I share comes from personal experiences and struggles I’m overcoming. As I’ve mentioned before, I struggle with depression. Therapy and great friends have helped me to manage my depressive episodes.
One thing that triggers my depression is darkness, specifically darkness during the day. During a depressive episode, I tend to hide in dark places. I close my blinds, lock my doors and avoid people at all costs. Darkness has become a trigger for me. So this week’s motivation is:
Create your own light in the midst of darkness.
Currently, South Florida is awaiting Hurricane Isaias which has brought extreme darkness. Automatically, I noticed the effect this had on my mood. I wasn’t as motivated as I usually am and I started to feel the signs of a depressive episode creeping up again.
Knowing what a depressive episode could lead to, I decided to pull out one of the lessons I learned from Gabby Bernstein’s book, Super Attractor. This quote from the book is one I will carry with me forever: “In the midst of the darkness, grab a flashlight.” I also try to remember this lesson when I enter environments or meet people that might be toxic and negative.
Instead of feeding into the darkness and allowing things I can’t control, like the weather or people’s attitude, affect me I decided to be the light.
The message here is in life, there will be dark moments that we have no control of but we can choose our reaction.
I hope you find some light this week.
As always, thank you for reading. Share the image below with someone who needs to hear it. You can also pin it on Pinterest.
Happy Monday!!! Thank you for this motivation, sis!
Let’s continue to be the light as we know, we have the power to change what’s happening on the inside.
So encouraging! 💗
