Hey!
Fall semester is quickly approaching and that means hectic mornings; whether you’re trying to make an effort to get out of bed or struggling to find something to wear. On today’s post, I’m going to show you how I’ve managed to minimize my wardrobe to make getting ready for class a breeze. I’m also sharing how you can do the same with 5 quick tips.
If you’ve read my “1 skirt – 3 ways” minimalism post where I talked about wardrobe capsule. In the post, I talked about using the practice to minimize my wardrobe to reduce the stress that comes with trying to find the right thing to wear.
For the first month of class, I created a capsule, that includes very versatile pieces in my wardrobe. In the capsule, I chose articles of clothing that I love and that are comfortable. The goal is to form different outfits simply out of the clothing on that capsule for the entire month.
Minimizing my wardrobe makes it less stressful to find something to wear. Along with that, it helps saves money and as a college student, I “try” to save as much as I can.
Here are a few pieces that I’ve chosen for my wardrobe ( This is not the entire wardrobe, I only chose to capture a few Items).
The thought of having to choose from a limited amount of clothes do sound boring. After all, who would want to keep repeating outfits? Well, you don’t have to. I’m going to share with you 5 tips on how to build your own capsule & how to spice up each look.
Build Your Own Capsule
- Keep it neutral- My main wardrobe is mostly made up of black, white and neutral clothing. They are easier to blend with other pieces without too much work.
- Jeans – Add a pair of jeans to your wardrobe, because they are comfortable, easy to style and easy to put on ( well, for some people). Trust me, no one is paying attention to how many times you wore that same pair of jeans, especially if you style them different each time.
- Kimono/Cardigan – Add a kimono to your wardrobe for those days when you want to be super lazy, but cute. Simply adding a kimono to a jeans and tank top look can make it look better.
- The Go To Purse – Find one bag/purse, that is big enough to carry your books and essentials, but also look good with any outfit. Preferably black or a neutral tone.
- Statement pieces – You don’t have to keep everything neutral, don’t be afraid to add in a few bold pieces. For example, a floral skirt or bomber jacket. Add something for those days you feel like being spontaneous.
Quick tip – Get creative with every outfit to make it less boring. Add pieces of jewelry to outfits that are plainer. Switch things up, that body-con dress you wore yesterday, tuck it in inside a pair of jeans/skirt and give it a different look.
