The fall is that time of the year where the weather gets cooler and the holidays are fast approaching. Here are 5 ways that you can transition your outfits from summer to fall-ready. It’s super easy.

1. The classic button-up blouse or shirt
Cotton is a versatile material that works all year round since there are different cotton blends. A simple long-sleeve white cotton top (shirt or blouse), can make for a cute fall look. In the summer, I might have worn the same top as a mere throw-over for those rare moments where I didn’t want to expose my shoulders.
2. Repurposing denim pieces
The temperature is still fairly mild in the fall, but it can also go from cool to warm within the same day, especially in Florida. I appreciate the functionality of pieces made from this classic fabric. If I’m at an outdoor event, I can add equal parts warmth and style to my outfit with a denim jacket.
3. Knitwear as a staple
On some summer nights, I find myself reaching for that easy-to-wear knit sweater or cardigan. Now in the fall, they become the go-to items for most outfits. The mixture of coziness and lightness makes for the perfect addition to a fall look.
4. Joggers for running errands
Whatever the weather, there is always something that at some point will prompt me to leave the house. For both the summer and fall, joggers work well since they give the comfort and ease that I need for a busy day. I usually go for elevated joggers, since they tend to look more sophisticated than sporty.
5. Deliberate accessorizing
Accessories are a great way to incorporate fall fashion into your wardrobe. Those small, but significant, accessories for the summer can add a great element to a fall look. For example, a bikini cover-up you wore by the pool in the summer, can be a scarf for the winter. Here are some great examples.
At the end of the day, you probably already have too many items in your closet. By working with those pieces, the transition from summer to fall looks is as fun and as easy as you make it.
